We get lots of questions about our Robotics team. Here are some of the common questions we hear.

We have an application to join the team. There is a limit to the size of our team that will be determined by the size of our workspace.  At this time we don't know what the limit is.

The "challenge" for FRC changes each year.  The next challenge will not be released until January 9th, 2027

We follow the FIRST organization's code of conduct.

The FIRST mission is to inspire a generation of science and technology leaders who are both gracious and professional. This FIRST Code of Conduct lists some of the basic behaviors mentors, coaches, volunteers, team members, affiliate partners, contractors, staff, and other participants should adhere to while participating in FIRST activities.

  • Exhibit Gracious Professionalism® at all times. Gracious Professionalism is a way of doing things that encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community. With Gracious Professionalism, fierce competition and mutual gain are not separate notions.
  • Ensure the safety of all participants in FIRST activities.
  • Not engage in any form of bullying, harassment, use of profane or insulting language, or any actual or threatened violence.
  • Adhere to all FIRST Youth Protection Program (YPP) policies.
  • Report any unsafe behavior to event or local FIRST leadership.
  • Persons who do not comply with this Code of Conduct may be barred from participating in FIRST activities.

If you are on the team, you are expected to be an active participant.  Time commitments fall into three categories.

  1. Pre-season - End of August (start of school) though mid January. We meet every Thursday afternoon for 3.5 hours (2:00 - 5:30).  During this time we are fundraising, doing outreach, training members, producing media and publicizing our team. Some additional work may be done remotely, especially from business team members.
  2. Build Season - Mid January through April. We meet Wed - Fri (2:00 - ~8:00) and some weekends.  The pressure is on, we have a robot to design and build in 6 weeks.
  3. Post Season - May through August. We meet most Thursdays from 2:00 - 4:00 with the flexibility in attendance for summer travel.  We do some outreach, fundraising, recruiting and team restructuring as we lose our seniors and gain new members.

Members who stop showing up consistently will be dropped from the team.
